Windows 7 has been available for a few months, and people are still upset about the fate of Windows XP. Apple’s iPhone has been on the market for less than a year. Vulnerabilities that Google wasted no time in exploiting. The ways in which we used the Internet began to change, Google spied an opportunity to create an entirely new Operating System (OS) for the open web and capitalize on Microsoft’s complacency and the limitations of Internet Explorer. The landscape of the Internet was very different in 2008. It’s also a great example of how a single product can challenge conventional wisdom and reshape how we think about the tools we use every day.
